Jeeseop Kim

Biographical Sketch

Jeeseop Kim is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Aerospace and Mechanical Engineering at the University of Texas at El Paso (UTEP). He received his B.S. in Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering from Seoul National University in 2014, his M.S. in Intelligence and Information (major in robotics) from Seoul National University in 2017, and his Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering from Virginia Tech in 2022. He was a postdoctoral scholar in Mechanical and Civil Engineering at Caltech from 2022 to 2025. His research interests span robotics in intelligent decision-making, and safety-critical planning and control that builds upon bipedal/quadrupedal locomotion, hybrid dynamical system control, and whole-body planning and control. His awards and recognitions include the ASME Dynamic Systems & Control Division (DSCD) Rudolf Kalman Best Paper Award in 2022 and IEEE International Conference on Robotics and Automation (ICRA) Outstanding Paper Award in 2023.
